Patrick Robbins offers a complete range of antique furniture and tailor-made furnishings from this friendly antique shop on Norman Road. He expanded into this space three years ago, and has filled it with a multitude of beautiful items without any trouble!
There are large pieces such as tables and cabinets, a good collection of ceramics, a range of 12,000 fabrics for curtains and upholstery, traditional and modern paintings, not forgetting more than 150 oriental rugs (have a browse on their website, www.orientalrugsonline.co.uk). “I tend to stock the things I like,” says Patrick, “So we have quite a lot of rustic French and English antiques along with some refined, good quality 17th and 18th century English pieces.”
Patrick works in conjunction with an interior designer to offer a soft-furnishing service, and has recently employed a new member of staff – who comes from Liberty’s – to advise on fabrics. From the traditional William Morris and Sanderson (wallpaper too) to a very contemporary look, it’s possible to spend hours browsing through thousands of samples here.
It’s always a pleasure to pop into Patrick’s to see what’s new. There’s a warm welcome and a fascinating collection of antiques to browse through, with some true discoveries to be made. Each piece of furniture or accessory has an interesting history, so there’s always something to learn. Look out for a range of studio pottery in the New Year, too.
