The Laindons is a beautiful Georgian town house. Originally a coaching house, it is better known as the erstwhile home of Uppfield and Sons. Uppfield’s main legacy is an airy showroom with a large antique picture window, now home to the Weekend Gallery.
The current guardians of this historical gem, Jane and Mike Brumfield, have created a relaxed and welcoming environment. The Laindons Bed & Breakfast has three large double en-suite rooms, each decorated to complement this period home. There is a comfortable guest lounge and conservatory, computer access and wireless broadband.
Breakfast includes fresh fruit, yoghurt, croissants, and fresh cooked options that would satisfy the largest appetite. Where possible, produce is sourced locally, organic and free-range. The bread comes from Judges just down the road and the meat and eggs from a local farm. Sussex-made marmalade and jams come from the regular Farmers Market held in the town centre. Vegetarian or vegan options are also available.
Art is exhibited throughout the house and there is a regular programme of exhibitions at the Weekend Gallery. Although small in size, the Weekend Gallery has plenty to interest both art collectors and those looking just for a special gift. As the name implies the gallery is open just at weekends, Friday-Sunday 11am – 6pm, although you can make an appointment to view work at other times by calling Jane on 01424 437710.
The Blossom Tree has a treatment room based at The Laindons offering massage, facials and aromatherapy. It carries a range of natural organic beauty products. Gift vouchers available.
Prices £60 - £75 per room, per night
