At Eras of Style you’ll find an eclectic collection of functional and decorative furniture and antiques for the home. Since Eras of Style opened their doors to the public during the autumn, they let us in on a
secret: a great choice of one-off, iconic pieces of furniture and accessories at trade prices. After years of selling for period photoshoots and to the London antiques trade, Andy and Christine’s shopfront on the corner of Norman Road is now open to us all. They travel thousands of miles every month through England, France and Belgium to source new finds. You really need to visit often to take advantage of a good turnover of stock, with new furniture and accessories coming in daily. There are all sorts of eye-catching novelty pieces, such as table football (a 1950s’ Stella Artois version at the moment), and wonderful vintage film posters from the 1950s and ‘60s that would make stylish Christmas presents.
There’s something from most eras here, from Georgian to the 1980s. From fancy French beds and mirrors through a dentist’s chair, to a good choice of Danish leather chairs and sofas, you’ll find furniture to suit all tastes. If you have a chandelier with missing drops, you’re likely to find a replacement piece here from a collection of various shapes and colours too.
Among the furniture is a good selection of architectural salvage, including doors, panels, stained-glass windows and stone ornaments for the garden. It’s a lovely, friendly place to browse whether you’re looking for a specific item or more generally to furnish your home, or perhaps some inspiration for a surprising Christmas present – guaranteed your gift would be one of a kind!
Eras of Style is at 32-34 Norman Road. T: 07974 178 760.
